Job Description:
Assess, plan, organize, and participate in rehabilitative programs that help build or restore vocational, homemaking, and daily living skills, as well as general independence, to persons with disabilities or developmental delays.
What Occupational Therapist Do:
Occupational therapists treat injured, ill, or disabled patients through the therapeutic use of everyday activities. They help these patients develop, recover, improve, as well as maintain the skills needed for daily living and working.
How to Become One:
Requires a master's or doctoral degree from an OT program that has received accreditation from the Accreditation Council for Occupational Therapy Education (ACOTE). West Virginia University is the only school in WV with this distinction.
