Job Description:
Care for ill, injured, or convalescing patients or persons with disabilities in hospitals, nursing homes, clinics, private homes, group homes, and similar institutions. May work under the supervision of a registered nurse. Licensing required.
What Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) Do:
Licensed Practical Nurses perform a variety of tasks under the supervision of a registered nurse. They administer medicine and injections, and take vital signs.
How to Become One:
Successfully complete a licensed practical nursing certificate or associate degree program. Pass the National Council Licensure Examination for Practical Nurses (NCLEX-PN) and apply for licensure in West Virginia.
